There would not be a buttero if there was no wild cattle!
To move, to divide, to control the cows of Maremmana race; and once a year, to assemble the young calves for branding, the indispensable sign to recognize them when they are free in the fields.
And, naturally, the breeding of the horses; to educate the colts, and then start taming and transforming them slowly slowly into horses ready to face every situation with their buttero.
An example of this job can be seen during the shows of the Butteri d'Alta Maremma Association.
